I am first and foremost a wife and mother. I have two beautiful children and a wonderful husband, who is also in education (high school). My Bachelors degree is in Sociology with a minor in Psychology.
Upon graduation from college, I was recruited by Bath and Body Works, where I had worked for over 4 years as a sales associate, to become a manager. I spent 5 more years in the ever-changing world of retail management. After having my second child, I realized that I needed a job with more stability and set hours. My original dream when starting college was to become a teacher, so I decided to pursue that dream again. Luckily, I had already completed most of my coursework from when I attended Grand Canyon University (and a few of my courses from NAU). After taking a few courses at Ottawa University and completing my student teaching I was officially a teacher. I have my certification for K-12th grade with an endorsement in English. This will be my fourth year teaching at Stetson. I spent two years as the 6th grade writing teacher, and last year as the 7th grade language arts teacher. I look forward to spending another exciting and eventful year with 7th graders.
People sometimes ask me how I do it.
"Do what?" I reply.
"Teach 7th graders," they inquire.
"Well, it's easy. I do it because I still act like a seventh grader myself."
When I am not teaching, I spend every moment I can with my loving family and my crazy, overgrown rottweiler, Jake!
